What’s in it for me? The Reader?
I bet you’re asking yourself that question right now. “What’s in it for me?” or even, “Why should I come to your blog and leave a comment?” I really only have one answer for you, and that is “Because I value your opinion!”
Seriously. I sit behind my desk, typing away at my computer and wonder, “What would readers really want read?” or “Would they hate that my ‘strong and silent’ hero can sing like Keith Urban?”
It’s not just the multitude of authors out there I’m trying to glean wisdom from, but the reader. You are, after all, the ones who will buy my book, read my book, and with fingers crossed (mine of course) love my book and tell others.
So, here’s a question for all you readers out there. “What are you reading, and why does it work for you? Inquiring minds want to know.
Now, I want to hear from you, really I do, but if you need an incentive, I’m giving away an autographed copy of my book, Dragon Lover, to one lucky commenter. I’ll be here all week to answer any and all questions, and drawing will be held on Friday.
Hi Jeanne I'm among the multitude of authors but I'm a reader too. I bought your book from Amazon for my Kindle and will read it soon. I like romance and well, dragons are a plus, although a Dragon and human romance? Okay I will read and see how you handle that one. lol Wishing you all the best.

Gary, Thanks for the support, and I hope you like the book. Let me know your thoughts once you've finished. My Dragon world is different from any other that's I've seen. At least, I like to think so.
DeleteI can testify that your dragon world in unique and the book is a great read! I have the paperback and loved it. Keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteAs a reader, I want escape, romance and a little danger.
You're the best, Jerrie. Thanks!
DeleteI gravitate toward characters I would want to be friends with in real life, so for me, there must be humor - a sarcastic heroine, a witty hero, self-deprecating humor - it doesn't matter so long as it makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteThe sarcastic heroine, like that too. I love the books that can pull that emotion out and make you laugh.
DeleteHey, Jeannie. Great to see you this weekend at the NTRWA writers conference. Boy did I get a lot of books to keep me busy. In fact, busier reading than I need to be. Ally, there is a humor in Jeannie's dragon books. One might not expect it, but it's there and is part of the charm of these books. I like to read romance with danger thrown in or danger with romance thrown in. I will read straight mysteries, but then I'm always a little dissappointed. Another blog I recently read referenced Mary Stewart--old time RS writer. Growing up reading her Phylis Whtney and Victoria Holt, left me wanting that combination of R and S. Jeannie, I know your sales will go great ont this series. Good books.
ReplyDeleteIt was great see you too, Marsha, and as for my books, thanks for the vote. LOL. Book 2 will be out in October of this year, and I'm tweeking book 3 right now.
